I've a had a perfect, super relaxing last few days and I'm finally ready to come home for sure. Guess I'm right on time :). So for my last Greece blog entry ever here are some lists.
Things I've missed and I'm looking forward to (besides all of the amazing people in my life of course):
- taking a shower without the curtain sticking to me and getting the whole bathroom wet ( maybe I'll even take a bath)
- a dishwasher
- a floor that doesn't need to be swept at least twice a day without getting disgusting (but of course it doesn't so basically it's always disgusting)
- putting my clothes in the dryer!
- the T
- Boston in general
- I guess I miss Hoppy a little
- sonny
- my comforter
- wearing my sigma letters
- all the rest of my clothing that didn't make the cut in my two suitcases
- the shoes I had to leave behind too especially my converse and ugg moccasins
- getting a hair cut
- netflix
- watching t.v.
- sitting on a couch
- fast internet and wireless
- having my groceries bagged for me
- customer service
- not having creepy guys talk to us (Greek guys are major creepers)
- Northeastern (back to my big school! and career services can't wait)
- a ridiculous amount of food related things:
* chinese
* mexican
* covered bridge
* Subway
* panera
* berryline fro-yo
* making brownies (hershey's)
* bj's
* beech hill
* friendly's
* sushi
* pancakes and maple syrup
* tealuxe
* a bigger kitchen with all of the kitchen supplies in it
* roast beef and boursin cheese
* bagels + cream cheese + lox
* the passover food I missed (matzah ball soup and charoset)
* dunkin donuts ice coffee
* American cereals like berry berry kix and honey nut cheerios
* the Foothills! you know I'm going to get an omelet AND their monster pancake the first time
* chocolate milkshakes
* hibachi
* tuna fish sandwiches and tuna melts
* kfc/fried chicken (weird cause I never even eat that)
* A whole separate list of home cooked food including broccoli soup, teriyaki salmon, and shrimp scampi
Of course there are things I'll miss about Greece/Thessaloniki/study abroad too!
- the food! yum. tzatziki, greek salad, everything
- the produce market
- everything on a smaller scale
- the chill relaxed pace of the Greeks (they seriously never work, the cafes are packed like 24/7)
- tavernas! basically eating delicious food family style, not being bugged by the waiter, staying for hours, having to ask for the bill, no tipping, and free dessert :)
- bakeries
- the boardwalk in Thessaloniki- It's just starting to get even better now that it's summer so it's so sad! They have tons of food stands and little shops closer to downtown and closer to my building it's so relaxed and peaceful to just sit out there!
- the people I've met here- although some friendships I've made here probably aren't lasting I think there are a few that will endure
- not having any responsibilities
- traveling
- how beautiful Greece is- you can pretty much always see water & mountains at the same time
- nice weather (although hopefully we'll have that at home for a while too)
- not having to drive at all (true in Boston too though)
- the beach!- Halkidki has great beaches and it's pretty close to where I live and the water's so warm! no hives!
- kiosks
